Ayumi Tanaka has always had an avid fascination for Japanese pop art. Her enthusiasm for the manga artform is matched only by her reverence of it. She was born and raised in Takarazuka, Japan, also hometown to Osamu Tezuka (the God of Manga).

She studied media arts in Chicago, her new hometown. A self-taught painter, Ayumi borrows heavily from anime, manga, and hentai imagery in her work. She believes even the most vulgar of images have a hidden power to become sublime.

When Ayumi’s not painting, she hosts the bi-monthly  Kichicast.
